NAAFA, FAT?

I really like this website, and believes that it provides an amazing resource for individuals looking for a place to go to feel a feeling of acceptance, but I also seeing it being a very beneficial site for people who "society" wouldn't consider "FAT" to go to... to get more information on and to have a push towards empathy on the subject. In regards to my capitalization of the term "FAT", I have found that within my own personal fight within "societal's ideals", the term "FAT" to sound really harsh and have also found it very hard to read in the context that I found the word within the site. I feel as though I have to reclaim the word "fat", and society should in fact do the same thing, for it is considered a "bad-word", or at least when ever the word is present, people become uncomfortable. I hope that sites like this, can really push even just the word "fat" and give it a space in our society... and not behind the "ideal silhoette".

I really enjoyed the size-diversity toolkit... this was a really great component to add to the website... it gave facts that people do not naturally consider when they are hiring for positions within their fields and really brought up good key points that people don't think about, for fear to talk to, and face rejection. I really would like to see more points from this site in general, as ways to help prevent and eliminate size-discrimination... but hopefully with time and with sites like this, that will all soon come to an end :)

We Come in All Sizes…
Understand it.
Support it.
Accept it.

* I think that "Live it" should be added to this already great slogan... I am going to hang this is the women's bathroom on my floor within the hall :)

  1. I think the "Live it" part would be a great addition. I also think that if I saw this on the wall somewhere like the dorms, I would feel a sense of comfort. I think its a great idea to post this and share it with your friends!
