International Size Acceptance Association

I can't believe that children are being taken away from their families because they are overweight! I thought the story of the young boy who was put into foster care because he was obese was the most powerful story on this website. I liked that this site said that obesity is not disease and people who are obese should not be treated as though they had leprose or the plague.

    I think the story about the young boy was alarming, also. I wish I could have known Child Protective Services side of the story. I have an HDFS degree and know quite about about CPS and the DHS and I know there are often more factors involved. I would be shocked if the child's size, alone, was the basis for removing the child from his/her home. They do not like to take children from their homes unless it is absolutely neccesary. Sometimes parents who are too permissive can neglect their children in terms of their health.

    I totally agree with you. I think that the fact that children are getting taken away from their families because of their size is ridiculous. This just goes to show that people really dont believe in the whole idea of genetics....its just crazy to me!
